I do. You use a... a particular patter, or patois, but rather than a regional one, it's singular to you. I'll always remember how you greeted me when we first met. I mean, aside from the fact that I was "gobsmacked," your turn of phrase has stuck with me.

Oh yeah? Which one in particular. Cuz I said a lot of things when we first met.
I chattered a lot, that first time. I wanted to make us look all buddy buddy for everyone around.
So I kept up a uh. Sure, a patter. Like you said.

"Partners, Fraser. Partners."

That's us through and through, Frase.
See cuz I knew you were real good pals with Vecchio. So I wanted to drive home that, you know.
I was gonna be your partner, too. Your duet. There through thick and thin, like.

But I wasn't partners with Ray Vecchio. He was my colleague, and my best friend, but... well, I suppose that functionally, we were, in a sense, partners, but he never said so, and neither did I. We weren't even on the same force, I mean... it didn't seem appropriate. But when you said it, even if I didn't realize it at the time, it became true. For us. For you and I. And it's only become more and more true since that day.
