Name: Stanley Raymond "Ray" Kowalski Door: Character is a reapplication, and is a submissive Canon: Due South Canon Point: Post-series Age: 35 Appearance: A picture of Ray History: Ray's history CR AU (Optional): Ray was previously in Duplicity, as Benton Fraser's submissive, along with Andrew Young. His time at Duplicity did not change the fundamentals of his personality, but rather opened up parts of it he was previously unaware of. For example, he knew that he liked it when Fraser gave him orders, but through being partnered with him as Dom and Sub, learned that he enjoyed it in a way that was much deeper, more intimate, and more sexual than he had previously realized. He enjoys being a Submissive, and Duplicity had helped him dig into and discovery how much he truly likes to serve Fraser, how much he craves Fraser's approval, and how badly he wants to please him. Although Ray and Fraser had intended to be contracted as friends, when Fraser presented him with a handmade collar, Ray and Fraser confessed long-repressed romantic feelings for each other, and the two became partners in every sense of the word. Ray also found himself often turning to Andrew Young for advice on how to navigate the Dom/Sub lifestyle, and how to gently introduce Fraser into the kinkier side of things. Andrew became a close friend, and the two found each other in sexual situations more than once, often under Fraser's guidance. When Andrew came to live with them after the flood in the Down, Ray was more than happy to have him there, and even more thrilled when Andrew became contracted with Fraser as well. There is, however, some jealousy there; Ray is generally fine with what Fraser and Andrew have, and is trying to work on being less jealous and possessive of Fraser. We'll see how that goes. Personality: + Sensitivity: Ray definitely has a sensitive side that he keeps hidden from most of his coworkers. He has a love of ballroom dancing, for instance. He still has feelings for his ex-wife, Stella, but ultimately just wants what's best for her. Even if that means not being with him. And he cares deeply for his partner, Benton Fraser. He's shown numerous times providing comfort and kinship for Fraser, after a particularly hard case, or after receiving bad news. For instance, Fraser was particularly emotional after a case involving a young mother and her three children, and Ray was there to rub his back, offer him dinner, and tell him everything would be okay. Ray also volunteers at a gym for at-risk youth and provides mentorship there. - Anger: This is Ray's number one vice. (Other than coffee with five Smarties in it.) He has a quick temper, and has more than once threatened to beat information out of a suspect. His favourite threat is to kick someone in the head, though he has never been seen to do this. He has, however, punched a wall when he got pissed off. He also yells extensively, raising his voice in any situation that isn't going his way. He gets frustrated when things aren't straight forward, and that frustration can easily tip over into anger if the situation escalates. His anger issues are well known around the precinct, and especially with his partner, Fraser. In fact, when Fraser was teaching Ray to swim, he instructed Ray to kick like he was kicking a suspect in the head. - Insecurity: Deep down, Ray is a very insecure person. When Fraser's previous partner returned, Ray was deeply worried that Fraser would just forget about him, or not want to be friends with him anymore. His breakup with Stella also left him feeling very insecure, as evidenced by the way he sometimes stalks her on dates to see who she's currently with. It's implied that the stalking has since stopped and he's since been able to move on from Stella. His insecurity also shows through his stalking of a bank robber and plans to face him down and potentially even kill him, all because the bank robber saw him wet his pants during a robbery when Ray was a teenager. Which also ties in with his anger and aggression issues. - Projecting: Ray has a tendency to project his own feelings onto others. This is seen most clearly in the episode Seeing is Believing, when Ray is asked to recount his version of a crime that happened in a crowded mall. It's clear that he projects his feelings about his divorce and his ex-wife onto the scene, skewing his version of what actually happened. He also assumes a lot about what other people feel, like that Fraser wouldn't want to be friends with him upon his partner's return, despite all evidence to the contrary. Powers and Abilities: - deduction and other standard police skills - sharp shooter (if he has his glasses on) - close up combat (mostly boxing) - ballroom dancing Inventory: - Chicago PD detective first class badge - collar, handmade by Benton Fraser - pair of glasses Samples: Sample One (thinking) Sample Two (communication) |
